Turkish Language and Culture Program

In effect since 1982, the annual international summer program in Turkish Language and Culture is an accredited program which offers courses at three basic levels of language instruction taught by university staff specialized in teaching Turkish as a foreign language. The program provides intensive instruction in Turkish to adult learners while offering them an opportunity to have first-hand experience with the Turkish culture.

Some Facts on Istanbul and Turkish Culture

There are around 350 mansions on Bosphorus today, situated almost upon the sea.

In the 17th century, Hezarfen Ahmet Çelebi flew using artificial wings for gliding from Galata tower over the Bosphorus nearly six kilometres away to the Asian side of Istanbul.

In early 16th century, Leonardo da Vinci designed a bridge for the Golden Horn, which would have become the longest bridge in the world of that time if it had been constructed. However, the ambitious design was not approved by the Sultan Bayezid II.

There are around 350 mansions on Bosphorus today, situated almost upon the sea.
